About
Šipan
Near the Dubrovnik is situated one group of little islands, which
already ancient Greeks have named Elafiti (the deer's islands). In
the deep cove of the greatest island Šipan is to be found the
typical Dalmatian village Šipanska Luka. The inhabitants of this
village, far from main tourist routes, live by rhythm of their ancients.
The myths, the rich history of island gentry, the summer-residences
of Dubrovnik's landed gentry, dense Mediterranean vegetation, crystalline
clear Water, still summer nights, make the perfect ambient for the
escape from the rhythm and stress of the city life. The proximity
of Dubrovnik (one hour by local ship or ten minutes by launch to the
coast village Slano) makes possible everyday frequenting of culturally
historical monuments in Dubrovnik and its neighbourhood.
