About Island Rab

Island of Rab is one of the island of the Kvarner bay archipelago in the north of Croatia's Adriatic Sea. It is an island with a long tradition of tourism, lying just along the coast of Krk and an easy ferry boat ride away. As with elswhere on the Croatian coast, Rab has a wonderfully warm climate, ranking it among the sunniest parts of Europe.

Its Mediterranean climate also allows for lush vegetation in the form of evergreen forests and delicious fruit and herbs olives, figs, grapes, sage and resmary are seen in abundance here. As far the seaside is concerned, the crystal clear Adriatic Sea is all around.

The island has had a chequered past, having first been heard of under the Illyrians in 360BC. It was lated to come under Roman, Byzabtine and Venetian rule – as well as French and Austrian – and traces of its illustrious history remain. Its capital is Rab Town and there are seven other smaller towns scattered across the island. Rab town contains many reminder of its past with Roman architecture contained within the city walls.Outside, there is beautiful promenade and a beach.

Restaurant Aco

Rab's gastronimical offer is world famous. It is based on a wide wafter of sea and meat specialities.
Tavern "Aco" is known as one of the oldest Rab's restaurants. Some years ago owner's son in law Darko Dedic took over cooking.
He shaped respectabile menu, adding every year some new delicacy. The success is based on fresh fish which comes every day into restaurant. Namely, owner's other son in law is fisherman
