Mljet
The island of Mljet is situated near wonderful city of Dubrovnik,
in a group of southern dalmatian islands. This is the main reason
why Mljet has always been a target for demanding tourists, fans of
untouched nature and wanderers on the track of legends about Odysseus,
st. Paul,...Thanks to its splendour, it is ranked among the top 10
most beautiful islands of the world. Mljet is one of the most beautiful
of Croatia's islandsPark of the island has been given National Park
status, designating it area of outstanding natural beauty because
of its lush greenery. Almost three-quarters o fthe island is coverd
by forests of Mediterranean pine, oak and undergrowth. Perhaps the
best features of all are the salt water lakes – Malo (Small)
and Veliko (Great) jezero. Small lake is connected with Big lake ba
a small channel while another connects Veliko lake with the open sea.
To make it all the more fascinatnig, there is ans island on the lake
on which stands a Benedictine monastery and the Church of St mary
– build in the 12th century. You can also find Roman remains
all over the island, including palatial ruins. But not everything
belongs to the past. Mljet also has some delightful villages where
the local people live, proudly enjoying their remarkable islands.
Mljet makes a great location for nature lovers and those who really
want to get away from it all in an island environment. You can, of
course, take a trip across the channel to Dubrovnik an the mainland.
The Adriatic Sea here is deliciously refreshing and clear so snorkellers
will have a wonderful opportunity to explore. There are also a number
of paths for walking and cycling.
Restaurant "Pomena"
The gastronomical offer of the restaurant «Pomena» consists
mainly of fish specialities. The fish are absolutely fresh cause we
fish it ourselves. Also we have two fish ponds where we keep our fish
and lobsters. The restaurant is placed in a very heart of National
Park of Mljet and you have 15 minutes walk to the Great lake of Mljet.
Above the restaurants we have a appartments and rooms capacity of
40 beds. Next year the hotel will be in function. The restaurant is
very near the sea, and the waterfront with 30 berths has connection
for electricty and water. Nearby you have a diving point, you can
rent a windsurf, bikes, skuters and cabrio car. Also there's a beach,
souvenir-shop and mini-shop.
Restaurant "Ogigija"
The restaurant "Ogigija" is founded 1974. by Pavla and Andelo
Market. It is situated in Polace on the sea-side of the island of
Mljet. In the front of restaurant "Ogigija" there are five
moorings with electricity and water. Restaurant "Ogigija"
is open from 15th April to 15th October, every day 08-24 h.
The specialities of restaurant «Ogigija»
are dalmatian smoked ham, cheese in oil, mussel, seafood salad, meat
and vegetable under the bell, fresh fish Dalmatian style, home made
cake, home made bread. We have also home made olive oil, brandy, wine
and much more.
In our offer we have also appartments and rooms for guests. We rent
bikes, cars, mini bus, scooter. Don't forget fishing trade.
